Winter Series Workshop for All Ages

NATIVE PLANTS FOR PROBLEM AREAS - Learn what to grow in areas that are “too” wet, dry, sunny or shady from Landscape Designer Alec Schorg of Aunt Rhodie’s Landscaping and Design Studio.  Alec has designed and installed award winning residential and commercial projects in both the Quad Cities and Chicagoland areas over the past decade.  He will help you troubleshoot those problem areas while providing helpful tips on keeping your gardens native.  Alec is a QC NAGs Member and Illinois Master Naturalist.

BIRDS IN WINTER - How do birds, big and small, survive our frigid winter temperatures?  Master Naturalist and wildlife rehabilitator Ann Sullivan will explain the natural history of our feathered friends in winter and how you can help them survive the winter.

Cost is $5 for adults, kids 12 and under are free.  At the Watchtower Lodge 6:30 to 8:30 P.M.

Winter Series Workshop for All Ages

FLYING FLOWERS IN YOUR GARDEN - Can you recognize our local butterflies when they are caterpillars?  Learn which host plant is required for the butterfly larvae to feed from local Master Gardeners and QC NAGs Members Roxie & Dallas DeShane.  They will help you identify beautiful plants you can use to establish a butterfly garden for their nectar sources.  Learn about butterflies and what other things you can do to attract these “flying flowers”.  Handouts will be available to assist you in planning and planting your garden.

FACT AND FABLE - AMERICA’S ONLY MARSUPIAL THE OPOSSUM - Learn about this incredible Marsupial by QC NAG Member and former wildlife rehabilitator Deb Kutsunis.  You’ll learn something new about our oldest surviving mammal from the age of dinosaurs!

Cost is $5 for adults, kids 12 and under are free.  At the Watchtower Lodge 6:30 to 8:30 P.M.
