Voting Information

Requirements Needed To Register

1. Be a United States Citizen

2. Be 18 years of age by the next election.

3. Must have resided in the voting precinct for thirty (30) days prior to the date of the next election.

4. Provide two (2) forms of identification, one showing the current address.  (VALID IDENTIFICATION: DRIVERS LICENSE, BIRTH CERTIFICATE, AND / OR STATE ID CARD.)

NOTE: A RESIDENCE IS A PERMANENT ABODE, A PLACE WHERE A PERSON ACTUALLY LIVES. NO ONE MAY REGISTER FROM A PLACE OF BUSINESS OR OFFICE UNLESS ACTUALLY LIVING THERE.

Change of Name or Address

  • Change of address within the same county can be handled by signing the back of the voter’s registration card or by written notice and mail to the County Clerk’s Office.
  • Change of name requires in person registration and must be done at one of the above locations.
  • Registration is necessary in person if the change is from another county or state.
  • To verify if you are registered to vote in Rock Island County (309) 786-VOTE (8683).

Election and Voter Registration

The Elections & Voter Registration Department is located in the County Office Building (1504 - 3rd Avenue, Rock Island, IL 61201). The Department is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  For general information, please call (309) 558-3570 or fax (309) 786-7381.


Voting Procedures

On Election day the polls are open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Voters who are not able to vote in person may qualify to vote absentee. For further information regarding absentee voting or any other aspects of the election process, contact the Voter Management / Elections department of the County Clerk’s Office at (309) 558-3571.
