The Village of Carbon Cliff’s population has increased by 26.3% (2,134) since the last Census taken in 2000 (1,689).  This increase is the highest percentage rate increase for three counties in Illinois including Henry County, Mercer County & Rock Island County.  Residents of Carbon Cliff deserve huge congratulations for their participation in the 2010 Census.  An increase in population means our community is growing.  This also gives us the opportunity to bring additional funding into the Village.  We should all be proud of this great accomplishment.

Lower Your Insurance Rate!

cash-house

Effective August 1, 2014, Village of Carbon Cliff homeowners / business owners will be eligible for reduced fire insurance rates resulting from new, lower Insurance Service Office (ISO) ratings.

Homes / businesses within 1000 ft of a viable / established water supply now have a rating of 3 {previously a 7}.

Homes / businesses not within 1000 ft or a viable / established water supply now have a rating of a 3Y (8B) {previously a 9}.

Of the more than 49,000 communities rated by ISO, the Village of Carbon Cliff’s class 3 rating places us within the top four percent (4%) of rated communities nationwide.  A community’s rating depends on factors such as emergency communication systems, the fire department’s equipment, staff and training, the water supply system, community efforts to reduce the risk of fire to include fire prevention codes and enforcement, public fire safety education and fire investigation programs.

Home owners and businesses owners should check with their insurance companies starting August 1, 2014 for potential savings.  Be sure to mention the new ISO Rating and show them this letter!

Need Foreclosure Help?

There are federal and state programs which can provide help on loan modifications and homeownership counseling.  The Illinois Association of REALTORS has compiled a review of the foreclosure resources that are available for homeowners at www.YourIllinoisHome.com under the “Foreclosure Resources” section.

Additional assistance for at-risk homeowners: FICO, the national credit score company, has developed a website with loan a modification questionnaire which helps homeowners determine whether they are eligible for a loan modification.  Upon submission of confidential data, an initial determination about qualification will be made, and a HUD-certified counselor will contact the homeowner within 48 hours.  This FICO website is www.MortgageReliefOnline.com.
